Twitter ego-network: @TheIPA
This is the story of the company you keep.
This visualisation represents the direct Twitter followers of @TheIPA, and the 'follow' links between them.
Each dot is a follower with more than 2.5k followers, the size of the dot and the Twitter handle font are proportional to the number of followers.
The 4 colours represent 4 communities of similar users, based on the similarity of the people they follow:
- Orange is the "observers, at a distance" who are generally not a fan of the organisation but want to keep a tab on it.
- Light green are a mix of business, politics and individuals on a spectrum leading to some affinity with the ideas championed the IPA.
- Dark green are the core base of the IPA, free marketers and aspiring non-PC types happy to rant about freedom of speech (theirs), dole bludgers & activists (SJW = Social Justice Warriors). Think shock jocks, Mark Latham, Craig Kelly and Malcolm Roberts.
- Blue is the Star Wars cantina at the edge of the galaxy: libertarians, self-freedom fighters, Tea Party affiliates, populists, general RWNJs, anti-tax, anti-government, ... peppered with pro-vaping lobbies, pro-guns think tanks and ultra-conservative Catholics.
Note: The communities are detected by an algorithm and the description are my interpretation based on visual trends - YMMV.
